English Philsopher
[1919-2001]
Anscombe's reptutation precedes herself, and she may actually be the best known female philosopher ever! As a youth, Anscombe was educated at Oxford, graduated in 1941 and taught various subjects there. In particular, Her niche subjects include, fields of logic, semiotics, semantics, and theory of language.
To better understand ethical behavior, Anscombe wrote the work Intention [1957]. (More specifically, this book undertook an analysis of intentional expressions and actions to determine ethical behavior). This work helped bring attention to her flourshing career as a philsopher and helped all women philsophers gain more credence in the field.
Anscombe's introduction to Wittgenstein's Tractus is another of her important works. In this introduction, Anscombe analyzed Frege and Russell and their connection to Wittgenstein. More importantly, Anscome's introduction to Tractus helps clarify Wittgenstein's somewhat confusing and often misinterpreted book.

1. Parmenides to Wittgenstein

3. Religion and Politics
Causality and Determinism(1971)
