Emile Durkheim Emile Durkheim A Philosopher Emile Durkheim French Sociologist and Philosopher 1858-1917 As a teacher at the University of Bordeaux, Durkheim is well-known for his idea of "collective representations." (This theory posits that the social power of ideas comes from the interaction of many minds).
