Gottlob Frege Gottlob Frege A Philosopher Gottlob Frege Logician Germany 1848-1925 One could say the Frege is responsible for modern-day mathematical language. His 1879 work Concept Notation contained a formal language that could express generalities through "quantifier variable notation." Russell, Wittgenstein, Schroeder and Boole are some of the philosophers/mathemeticians influenced by Frege's work. Frege's On Sense and Meaning" deals with problems between meaning and reference and between proper name and its sense. This work opened up new studies for many decades to come.
