    Sung Tzu

    A Philosopher

    • Sung Tzu or Sung Hsing

    Chinese Mohist/Huang-Lao Philosopher

    [c.360-290]

Sung Tzu is best known for his work, The Art of War. In this book, Sung-Tzu outlines the virtues of a great prince. Not only are his strategies adept and his stories intriguing, but the book has served as a template for all future books pertaining to leadership.

As a member of the Chi-hsia Academy of Ch'i, Sung Tzu shared many of the Mohist ideals of utility, thrift, meritocracy, and a reluctance to wage war. Additionally, Sung Tzu felt that inner evaluations of the self were far more important than outward judgements.
